2 years old

Happy belated 2nd anniversary to this blog! Haha! It became 2 years old yesterday but I was lazy to visit blogger. :) Yesterday went to EpiCenter(Apple's reseller) at Wheelock Place to check on my iPod. Sadly, the problem was with my cable and not my iPod. If not, I might had gotten a 1-to-1 replacement for a new iPod. :( So, went to exchange for a new cable instead, a newer version one. But, it doesn't have the clip which can safeguard the USB port. >.< I have to pathetically use the plastic slip to somehow "tie" up my cable.

Today woke up at 10.30am as usual ever since I came back from Chiangmai. Haha! Had breakfast and watched Meet Dave. A very stupid movie actually. Haha! Eddie Murphy is always multitasking characters. :)

Hope my juniors are enjoying the exam period now which is going to end next week probably. Haha! :D My finalised timetable is also out. It's gonna be another no-life semester. Out of the 5 days in school, Monday ends at 5pm while the rest ends at 3pm except for Wednesday on 4pm. Well, at least a little better than semester 1 but school starts earlier this time. :( Hope that I can pon some class to go back to YCS to meet the new Sec 1s next year. What a big sacrifice~ :) Haha!

Having long breaks isn't quite a good thing for me getting my Maths stuffs back into my brain again. Moreover, I had gotten into the Advanced Engineering Mathematics elective for the Diploma Plus electives. So yea, it's like the times we are having as 4E1 on Mondays and Tuesdays. Haha! ;D Aiming for University too, so Maths is quite important yea? But IS modules seemed to kill me in my GPA still. Haiz.

Double 7

Met up with 7/8 of Team 3 today at JE Library to do some video stuffs of the Chiangmai trip. Dang wasn't there because he flew back to Vietnam the next day after we landed on 23/9. So yea, spent about 1 hour finding powerpoints as most are occupied while some others are not in use. Saw Clara too, actually she saw me first. :)

Settled down at the top level and we practically was laughing and going through photos instead of getting the job done. Haha! It was hell damn funny especially Nian Yue and Dang's photos. ;D Ended at about 6pm and went to IMM for Pepper Lunch! Our table number was 77! Wheets! :D

After dinner, went to Best Denki to buy my screen protector for my camera. The screen looks so much better with the new protector. Haha! Then was thinking of buying a pouch for it, but shall wait till a later date. :) Went back to JEC to play pool. It was Nian Yue's first time playing too. Ever since he mixed with us guys for the Chiangmai trip, he had learned lots of things - playing daidi, drinking and now pool. Haha!

YEP: Chiangmai, Thailand

S$1 = 23.8 Baht
I am finally back from hardship and leisure at Chiangmai. Landed on 23/9 but took these few days to prepare this post. O.O This SHOULDN'T be a very very very long word post since we are majority of the time at the work site. :) But it will be a very very long photo post! Photos are at the end of the post. Due to some problems, I couldn’t upload some of the videos, so if you guys wanna watch, I will try to upload it – elephant riding, elephant shitting, 4WD rides up and down a slope, bullock cart riding etc. So do tag me if you want to.

So... on 10/9 woke up early at 4.30am, changed and washed up and my parents sent me to the airport. Along with us, there were a few lecturers coming too - Mr Liau, Mr Ng and Mr John Lam. There were 2 more lecuturers who tagged along as volunteers - Mr Kwan and Ms Chiam. Saw Chin Kuang, Kai Chung and Daniel there already. So went over to find them and waited to check in our luggage. Mine was overweight but it doesn't matter anyways. Haha!

Then, slacked around and boarded the plane. The acceleration part is always the most exciting part when flying. Haha! So I was listening to my iPod, playing games on my iPod and having my second breakfast on board. :)

So about 3 hours later, we landed in Chiangmai International Airport. We were received by someone and we uploaded our luggage onto 2 4WDs, while we sat in a bus which was actually a van. -.-''' We went to this shopping center called Big C, which I think is also known as Carrefour. Had our lunch there which was pretty funny. We don't understand or speak Thai, so we had to just point here and there. Lol!

Next, bought junk food and water for our 10 days stay up in the mountains. The water we bought are 6 litre bottles. Apart from that, we bought about 4-5 big plastic bags of junk food. It was that crazy! But we managed to clear everything at the end of the 10 days in the mountains.

Next, had a 5-7 hours ride up to the school in the mountains at Huay Zhong Bo. Along the way, the scenery is very beautiful and I managed to snap some shots. The roads are bumpy, steep and lots of turns. We reached there at night and the drivers are also driving slowly up the slopes. Dangerous but fun.

We were in Team 3, Dang(Y3), Violet(Y3), Nian Yue(Y2) and Ruby(Y3), Chin Kuang(Y1), Kai Chung(Y1), Daniel(Y1) and me. Our slogan is – Fuck Care. Dang is our SL and our slogan is originated by him. :D Dang and violet are from Vietnam while Nian Yue was from China. They are quite friendly people and we kept making fun of Dang's name as "dung" instead. Haha! It was fun and we clique well pretty fast because of a joke between Dang and Nian Yue and Ruby alone. Haha! It was hell lots of laughter for the first few days and we had the greatest appetite of all because we are mainly consists of boys, so we are like a "rubbish bin" during meals, clearing up those leftover food which other groups could not finish.

Alright, back to what I was saying... ... We reached the school and it was a school which worships Jesus. We were then welcomed by Jian-laoshi and he is 80 years old and living fit! Wow! Then we had to carry our damn heavy luggage down to our bunks below using the stairs. Lecturers and some students sleeps on the ground level while we are below them. Checked into our bunks and realized that there are lots of insects and creepy-crawlies all over the area. But luckily there were wire meshes on windows and the hole under the doors are sealed up, so nothing can come in. But sometimes they came in while we are opening the door, so we had to sleep with them too. >.< Had our dinner there and turned in early for the next day.

Woke up, washed up, had breakfast and went down to the work site for work. All they had built was a roof and steel pillars only, so we had to build the walls around it. First day of work was not really good for the boys. The girls are just laying the bricks for the walls while the guys had to carry packets of cement which weigh about 50kg per packet, for those who are mixing the cement and dig up holes which are quite deep, which later was not being used and had to cover up the holes by the end of our stay there. The hole is meant for a drain though. RAHH! Mixing cement is not as easy as you thought. It is tiring because it was heavy. There is a shifu around to guide us and help us in building the walls.

So for Thursday and Friday we are just practically laying bricks and mixing cement. Our progress is very fast and our lecturers are impressed with that. For the weekends, we never work. But specially on Friday, my team was asked to collect sand into big gunnysacks and upload it onto the 4WD truck and drove down to the work site. We were lazy to walk down the slope to unload the bags, so we just slacked outside the kitchen chit-chatting and crapping around and wait for the truck to come up again for another batch of sand. Meanwhile, we are hoping that we won't hear the engine of the truck booming up the slope. This is because it is time for us to get back to work. Haha! Hell damn funny!

On Saturday, we trekked to another village in the mountains, while some took the 4WD ride which is faster. Jian-laoshi trekked with us too at his current age. Really admire him sia. On the way, we bought food and drinks to eat. The way they sell their glass-bottled drinks are quite different from Singapore. You only pay for the drink, so you have to return the bottles back to them for a trade exchange with the company. Walked down some more and bought a small ice-cream for 2 Baht(S$0.08), while the bottled drinks costs 15 Baht(S$0.63)only! Then saw this cute little dog which likes to play with us and it licked quite a few people like Mr Ng. Haha! While walking back to our school, there was this little boy who throwed stones at us. But he was just being playful and naughty. But what's worse was that he attacked our girls. Haha! Threatening us with his toy gun and sword. Lol! Damn funny. :)

It was fun, and we get to see much more beautiful scenery. It was worth the long walk about 1.5hours. But when we reached, the other batch of our students are leaving, so we just hopped onto the 4WD at the back and enjoy the wind and sand dust going into your eyes and mouth. Haha! But we were smart to get into the sheltered 4WD, while the other which is not. Also, due to lack of space, the other truck looked like transporting banglahs!!! :D

Then they had a volleyball match with the students of a school. They are short but they won us. Haha! The Thai students are quite good at sports. Also, on Sunday we traveled out to have lunch as well as stock up on our junk food and some basic necessities. Then went to another school for a basketball friendly too. Our opponents are the champions of the different villages there. But they mixed teams with us.

On Sunday night, we celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival too. All the groups have to design a lantern using the materials given and carve out a design on the pamelo. Our group made the loudest of noises I guess, mainly because of the jokes and ideas we give. Hahaha! Later just check out the pictures and you will know why. :) At the end of it, there were some local type of mooncake? o.O Not sure of it, but Dang and Violet brought their Vietnam type of mooncake. It is nice, with lots of fillings inside. Haha!

Monday was back to work as usual. What I did usually was those sai kang work la, like carrying bricks, cement for people, and soil for covering up the drain hole which we dug on the first day which wasted our time. Haha! As time goes by, the walls are coming up and plastering can be done too.

There is a new composition for mixing the plaster. But I went to be the assistant of Kai Chung and Chin Kuang in the room while they are laying bricks for the higher part of the wall. They are standing on those planks, so I just have to look out for their safety and bring bricks and cement for them. Haha! Easy job! :D

Between Tuesday till Friday, it was mainly plastering and some interesting things happen too. On Wednesday, we were digging soil to cover up the hole, so we have to remove a small tree. Dang, Mr Ng and a few more people helped to chopped down the tree. It was very funny as it was very difficult for them to bring down the tree. Its roots are long and thick. On Thursday, a few of us followed Mr Liau down to a roadside stall selling kuay tiao. It costs 20 Baht(S$0.84) only! Food in the mountains are always very very cheap. Haha! On Thursday, Mr Ng and Mr John Lam learned how to play daidi with the aid of Dang and Ruby respectively. Haha! I was quite shocked that they don't know how to play. Lol!

On Friday, it was our last day of work and it was raining in the morning. So, my group just played cards in the bunk and went to take photos with the kids in the school. :D THEY ARE VERY CUTE AND ENTHUSIASTIC IN TAKING PHOTOS WITH US! :D Then rain stopped and a few of us just went to touch up on the plastering. After lunch was just free and easy as some of the students and lecturer went out to buy food for our steamboat/BBQ dinner at night. A few of us were tempted by the kuay tiao, so we just down to the stall again since it will be our last time there. Went back and just played cards and waited for them to come back.

Dinner was setup and waited for the host to say a few words to bless us as they believe in Jesus. We used the old way of barbecuing - using metal pots and charcoal. It was fun. :) Also, there is a local delicacy to our dinner - fried worms. It was very nice. You don't really taste the taste of the worm, but can only taste the oil and it is as if hollow inside the worm, very crispy. :) Later at night, our team prepared breakfast for the next day on the bus. The next morning, Saturday, we did some last minute packing of our stuffs and loaded them onto the 4WD. I had car sick on the way down back to Chiangmai city. Luckily I never puked out in the van. o.o

Reached the city and had lunch at Airport Plaza. Went round searching for suitable food for us and finally settled on Japanese food. We dined at Yanoi. Later went on to shop around the shopping center. Found out that they actually have Winning Eleven arcade consoles outside the arcade! You don't find Winning Eleven anywhere in Singapore except on your own game consoles. Haha! Then went to some computer stations where you have to pay to use, to check my results. Not up to my expectations, being pulled down by CATS. -.-

Checked into our hotel in the evening. The very bad thing about it is that it doesn't have a lift. So some of us had to carry our luggage to the 4th level. Argh. It was a 3-star hotel, so can't complain too much though. Haha! The room was quite small but enough for 2 people, Chin Kuang and me. The moment we open the toilet door, it was quite creepy, the white curtain was closed. Haha! You can imagine that. :)

Went down to the night bazaar to have our dinner at some seafood dinner and the portion was small. >.< Then went for shopping! The way Daniel bargained really scared me out. A few of us were scared that we would be bashed up somewhere somehow. Haha! Maybe his tone of bargaining is too harsh. Lol!

Team 3 bought the same T-shirt as a representation of our group. Haha! So just explored the rest of the night bazaar till time is up. All the stalls are selling clothing and accessories. You don't really see any stalls selling food and drinks. Also, they are very eager to sell their stuffs to you. If their price never meet you expectations and you leave, they will ask you back and ask for your price and negotiate with you till we have a deal. We can go as low as half the price of their selling price. Haha! :)

Went back to hotel, enjoy the bed, bathed and played cards with friends for a while and watch TV. Chin Kuang and I were searching for the channel which broadcasts LIVE matches of the EPL, but there is none. This means that I missed 2 Manutd matches in my stay in Chiangmai. -.- So ended up watching MTV and replays of soccer matches when we have nothing to do. But some other guys went to play cards in Dang's room and drink beer for the loser. Haha! Slept at 2am.

On Sunday morning, had a buffet breakfast in the hotel lobby. Not a very grand one, but just some simple dishes. The hotdog is very nice. Haha! After breakfast, took the van to a village high up into the mountains. We were accompanied by a tour guide for the rest of the days of our stay in the hotel. The scenery is also very nice there where you can see the mist on the road too. The journey is very very very curvy. You have to turn at every end around the mountain. Check out the video in this post. :) We reached and went up the mountain to visit a mini-museum. It has all the milestones of Chiangmai and some of the olden things they use back then.

Then we went up the mountain more to see some plants including the illegal poppy plant. Haha! The scenery is nice too with the clouds covering the surrounding mountains. You have to tip the kids there if you wanna take photo with them, some of them even came automatically. Haha! That is how they earn money from tourists I guess.

Later on, we went to a place like a temple. We sat on the cable car, which is actually a lift that goes up on a slope, being pulled up by cables. Maybe that is how they got the name "cable car". Haha! Walked around the temple and there were donations such as big bells and God statues by Singaporeans. So walked around and took photos and we reached a point where we can see the whole of Chiangmai city. It was DAMN beautiful!!! Check out the photos later. :D Then walked down 306 steps of the stairs down to where we started. Cool.

Went down the mountain and I had a very very bad car sick. I nearly vomited, I was at the brink of it. The moment I opened my eyes, we are in the city already. Phew. Went to some resort to have a international buffet lunch. But the variety was quite limited though, as compared to Singapore. The coconut milk there tastes a bit sour and it bothered me throughout the day. But it was nothing much too serious.

After which, went to a silk factory. The stuffs there are quite expensive and also not to our use. So just walked around and feeling very tired. Haha! Then went to the honey factory. They thought us how to differentiate real and fake honey. For the real honey, when you apply water and shake on a plate, a honeycomb structure will appear after a while. Very interesting.

Next activity, hot spring. The English in Thailand is very funny. It can sound very wrong too. HAHA! Check out the photos later~ :P All the guys shared in one room and we had war with 4 girls next door. Haha! We started splashing the water over the wall. Lol! Then later we made peace. Washed up and left that place. On the bus, we were discussing about whether to go Thai massage later as we have discounted price. I don't really felt like going as my stomach is quite irritating but went eventually after bombing the hotel toilet. Haha!

I had the normal massage while the rest had the oil massage including our lecturers. Haha! It was hell damn funny in the room and noisy. We are the first time doing this, excluding the lecturers. So, most of them are giggling and laughing because it was very ticklish. I just bear with it lor and we all felt very violated! LOL! But those doing the oil massage is more violated. Shall not elaborate more. HAHA!

Had McDonalds' dinner and the Mcdonalds' statue is very cute and funny, with respect to the Sawadika gesture. :) The portion they give is also more than Singapore with respect to the normal size without any upsize, which is more worthwhile and cheaper than the normal set in Singapore. Then shopping as usual at the night bazaar. I went to this sports shop to chiong Adidas/Nike stuffs. Muahaha! Also, bought some T-shirts, those funny ones if you know what I mean. :) Slept at 2am again that night.

Next morning had a difficult time to wake up, I just fell back to sleep after switching off my alarm. Maybe it is due to the Thai massage. Haha! Anyways, had breakfast and off to the Elephant Camp. We watched the elephants draw, splyed sports and performed music. I found their toilet bowl too! I was huge! Haha! Then, the elephants came to the stands and we fed them with bananas. They are very rowdy and playful. Their trunk can be used as a vacuum cleaner luh. One of them were like browsing through our seats for bananas which freaked all of us out but funny. Haha! But the mucus on their trunk is gross and they have bad breath. :P

Then it was the elephant ride around the forests. This is my first time riding on the elephant and it was quite a bumpy ride. What's most funny about the ride is that you can see other people's elephants peeing and shitting. It was damn funny. The way they pee is just like a pipe being burst and their waste is just like a... bomb. My elephant dropped 6 bombs! LOL! Check out the photos and videos! :)

Then it was river rafting and bullock cart ride. River rafting is just like you sit on the raft, going through the river, enjoy the trees etc. Haha! As for bullock cart ride, I felt quite pitiful for the bulls. They are whipped and poked to make them move around. I gave 20 Baht for tips for the sake of the poor bulls. I am a kind soul. :D

Had another lunch buffet nearby. The food there was better and they have the kuay tiao too. Haha! AFter that, went to a botanic garden. Plants everywhere and the cactus there are nice. It rained suddenly and we were so pathetic that we had to use 1 raincoat to cover about 10 people. I held one end of the coat and water keep entering to my shirt through the space of my sleeves. RAH! End up I was still wet. Haha! In the coach bus, Mr Lam is very busy. He's our money changer. Haha! I changed an extra S$50 with him, and it made me survive for the next few days of shopping. Haha!

Then went to a shopping center to shop. I forgot its name but its initials are PSK. :) We found a few sports shops and 1 of which are doing off-season clearance sale, so the good are old ones, but I don't mind. However, some designs are nice but I found some minor defects. I am a perfectionist. :) So bought socks and a pair of shorts instead.

We took a taxi back to the hotel, changed and went for the Khantoke Dinner. It is a dinner where people sit on the floor and have the dinner while there are traditional Thai dance performances on the stage at the center. Some performances are quite nice though but I still don't understand what they are dancing. Following, the dancers came down to the floor and ask for partners to dance with them. Dang was the funny one. He did not want to be asked, so he pretended to be busy on the phone, yet the dancer came and approached her. So all the NP people laughed at him and watched him dance. He dance really like an aqua luh. LOL! Die die must see the video although it was only for a while. HAHA!

Back to hotel changed and back for final shopping spreeeeee~ Our mission: Everything(money) must go. Haha! So bought few more shirts and stuffs and went to McDonalds' with Chin Kuang and Nian Yue for simple supper. Then back to hotel to pack our luggage.

Soooooo, woke up for breakfast in the morning and did some last minute packing and checked out of the hotel. Bused to the airport and farewell Chiangmai. :( On the plane, the air stewardess gave our free poker cards. So Daniel, Kai Chung and Daryl played 1 game of daidi. Haha!

Overall, the trip was good but the food at the school was quite terrible. It was vegetables every day, every meal. Haha! They can't afford meat too much so if you eat a piece of chicken, it is actually the bones only. The best they can go is fish. :) So we had to bear with it for 10 days up in the mountain. There is no aircon or fan in the bunks because we have natural aircon at night. It is very cold at night. Lots of insects and they are much bigger than Singapore ones and some of the spiders we saw are handicapped with 1 or 2 legs lesser. Haha! But they are stupid ones, easy to kill especially those flying ones. :D

I was down with mild sore throat on the first Friday and flu on Saturday. It doesn't feel good at all. I broke down(which I don't know why) while sharing our life journey at a night debrief. =/ Lots of mosquito bites on my legs, total of more than 20 bites. Haha! Funny stuffs happened in our bunk almost every time. Insects coming into our bunks and killing them with Bygon. LOL! It was fun though, at least for Daniel who used half the can within 3 days. He can't aim properly. Haha!

For every night, I was practically sleeping while some of them went out to see stars at night cause I was quite tired already. But for the last night there, I stayed up to watch stars after dinner. I laid on the back of the 4WD to watch. Haha! My friends saw about 11 shooting stars within a few hours that night, but I only saw 1. =/ Well, at least my trip there wasn't wasted, can see at least one. Moreover, the one which I saw was very bright and fast. Haha! It was damn exciting!

I can finally see how a rooster, goats and pig looks like and some of the trees of certain fruits which you can't see in Singapore. The chicken in Singapore is hairless and pigs are already being slaughtered. They have mountains while Singapore only have hills. Lol!

Things there are so much cheaper than Singapore without the GST. I can save quite alot without the GST. Bargaining and shopping comes together when you go shopping in Thailand. It feels so good to just spend without thinking so much because it is just so cheap (like what we did on the first day stocking up – throwing anything we can see into our trolley). Now I know why girls like shopping so much, especially when there is a sale. ;D

There were lots of funny things happening in my group especially. Dang kept wanting special service for the Thai massage, Dang and Nian Yue's gay scandal, Kai Chung having a scandal with Ms Chiam because we wanted extra tofu. Haha! You get it? ;D Ruby with the SOFT joke. :D So yea, we were never tired of repeating these jokes for the whole 2 weeks. Haha! Also, not leaving out the fact that my arm muscles had grown quite a bit. :D I am heavier now too. >.<

RAHHH! I’m missing Chiangmai! :(

Below are "some" of the photos I took for the whole of 14 days, of course selected ones. They consists of scenery, insects and some other stuffs. So, enjoy!
